Our name Emmanuel (which means God with us) implies we sincerely believe that God is indeed with us individually and corporately and that it is His Spirit which enables us to love and minister to one another, and to use the gifts He has given each one to further His kingdom.
Our History: Planted in 1980 as part of the Christian Brethren Movement and strongly influenced by the renewal movement of that time, Emmanuel Christian Community is a Bible- based Christian church with weekly worship services incorporating music, prayer, sharing, kids ministry, Scriptural teaching and the Lord's Supper (communion). What we do extends beyond Sunday mornings, with home groups, teen & pre-teen ministries and many other "organically planned gatherings" happening throughout the week. We have a leadership team that oversees the needs and ministries of the church while many of our community members are involved in directly leading these various ministries.
Our Vision
To be a caring community that welcomes people from all walks of life to follow Jesus. We hope to be a place where everyone finds their role in partnering with the Holy Spirit, using what God gives us to serve at ECC and beyond
Our Values
FOLLOW: Following Jesus is our primary value. We believe in His saving power and desire to live for Him and with Him. By His Holy Spirit we seek to love God and one another.
PARTICIPATE: We want everyone to participate with their unique gifting. That's why you'll see a variety of people sharing on Sunday mornings, leading different events or being part of volunteer teams.
CARE: Our hope is that everybody feels welcome and cared for in our church. We want to be known as a community who laughs with each other, mourns with each other and prays with each other.
The Essentials
There are many places where you can hear a powerful sermon or moving worship music. There have never been more tools for Christians to access to dive deeper into scripture, theology or our faith heritage. However, we hope that ECC can be a place where we work these concepts out in real life, together. At the core, we believe the Kingdom ethic is best understood in relationships, together.
With our vision in mind, we've developed 10 key essentials that can guide us as we work out what it means to follow the way of Jesus, together.
