Ukrainian Childrens Christian Fund

ECC has been connected to UCCF for many years, through their ongoing relationship with Nels Spruston (who is a board member with them) and our financial support of their ministry overseas in the Ukraine.

The goals of UCCF are:

1. To spread the Gospel of Love in our Lord Jesus Christ to children and families in the Ukraine

2. To demonstrate the love of Christ by giving basic necessities to needy children: the orphans, abandoned little ones, the sick.

3. To encourage fellowship among Christians across borders, nations, and miles, by sharing news, blessings, and opportunities to serve one another "in Christ."

RECENT UPDATES from UCCF

April, 2021

I greet you and all our brothers and sisters in Christ who are involved in the ministry of our mission.

As you know, I work at school now and my job is to help those children who have special needs and are struggling with learning. Among them are two brothers - Denis and Artem Uvarov (pictures 1-3). They are twins. The boys were prematurely born which caused a delayed psychological development. Both boys have learning disabilities. They are in the second grade but haven't mastered reading and writing yet. Denis can be quite aggressive sometimes. But their biggest problem is that they don't get the care they need. I mean, even the basic needs are not met. They are constantly hungry, they don't have necessary things for school, good clothing, or footwear. They have two elder siblings - a brother and a sister. Their mum doesn't have a permanent job but she is doing her best to provide food for the children. As for the father, he is very often drunk.

I bought them some things for school, like exercise-books, pencils, etc. I also brought them some clothes and I also pay for their lunches at school.

In order to get a higher qualification, I am taking a course at a college.  There I met a young woman, Katya. She has three children. Her former husband (the father of two elder children) doesn't help to support his children. Her second husband is trying to raise them as his own.

Katya had her first child when she was 16. She comes from a dysfunctional family. Now, her mother-in-law started to teach her different things. Her mother-in-law and her husband encouraged her to go to college to get an education. I invited Katya to our church and let her choose some clothes for her children. (pictures 4-5)

Kristina is a single mother. She used to come to our Sunday school when she was little, but then she stopped going to church. She is 21 years old and she is raising two children on her own. She has a daughter Karina (4 years old) and a son Artem (5 months). I invited her to the church to choose some clothes for her children (picture 6)

One more woman I would like to tell you about is Yana. She has two children - Lina (6 years old) and Timofei (11 months). Lina's father doesn't support his daughter. Timofei was born in the second marriage. His father has been to the war and he returned with psychological trauma and as far as I can tell, he takes some kind of drugs. The family lives in our neighborhood and I decided to invite Yana to the church to choose some clothing. We are very thankful that Sabina continues to send parcels with good clothes. (pictures 7-8)

We are praying that God would work in the hearts of these people.

May God bless you and keep you safe.

Barbara Levchuk
