The safety of all children is a top priority for ECC.
All of our volunteers follow a volunteer screening process that includes an application process, record check, and annual safety training that follows current protocols as outlined by the BC government as well as our organization's safety policy.
Washroom Protocol
We ask parents/guardians to escort their children to the washroom before the program begins if they cannot go by themselves. If they are in need of assistance during the program, our volunteers will locate the parent or guardian to assist the child in the washroom.
We do not change diapers, however, there are change tables available in both washrooms in the main building, as well as a change table in the Good Shepherd room.
First Aid
There are first aid kits available in all classrooms and in the kitchen. Please ask a staff member or a children's ministry volunteer if you need some assistance.
Emergencies
In the unlikely scenario where we will need to evacuate for safety reasons, our primary muster location is the Parking Lot of ECC. If the Parking Lot is deemed to be an unsafe muster point, our secondary muster location is Manoah Steves Neighbourhood School Park. For safety reasons, we can't release children to the parent or guardian as soon as we evacuate, but you're welcome to stay with the group until everyone is accounted for and the staff and/or emergency services have approved it is safe to release children.
