Study Questions:
- What comes to mind when you think of Mary Magdalene?
- Do a Google search of Renaissance artists and their paintings/sculptures of Mary Magdalene (think Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, e.g. Leonardo, Donatello, Michaelangelo Caravaggio, Raphael). Contrast it with modern interpretations today (e.g. Passion of the Christ, Da Vinci Code, the new Mary Magdalene movie). How do these pieces compare with what the Bible actually said about her?
- Jesus asked Mary "Who is it you are looking for?" In times of despair, who are you looking for? What (or who) do you cling to?
- After the resurrection, Mary clung to Jesus and worshipped him....but Jesus then said to her "Do not hold on to me..." Why did he say that?
- Mary exclaimed "I have seen the Lord!" How have you seen the Lord during this pandemic?
- Mr. Rogers is famous for saying "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'" How might God be using you to be a helper to minister to your neighbours?
