Prayer Needs

From the Sponsorship team

Sept 6, 2023
Praise God that the Eritrean family ECC is seeking to sponsor made it safely from Sudan to Uganda and that their application to settle in Canada can proceed. Please pray for smooth processing of their papers, interview, etc with the appropriate Canadian visa office overseas

Please Pray

  1. for a couple emergency evacuated from Nicaragua arriving late Wed night at YVR…that they will have no trouble being admitted as asylum seekers. E and M are doctors and will be staying with her sister Maria and Roberto and family at Dockside. At risk for their faith in God, we are thankful that He gave them safe passage leaving their homeland. Their brother-in-law here, Roberto, works for Journey Home as a settlement supervisor. Please pray for Roberto in his job and for E and M settling in here in Canada and for 1 bedroom accommodation for them (and all that they will need) in God’s good time.  Please pray also for the safety and well-being of their friends, family and other believers in Nicaragua and for positive changes in government there. May God’s Light shine there despite persecution
  2. for acceptance of Amilkar and Aurelia’s family application for asylum here in Canada and for work for Aurelia as she applies for jobs now that their children are both in school at Homma.
  3. for our Ukrainian friends Alex and Mila, for their language studies, for God’s provision of work for Alex, health for Mila and baby due in November, and smooth transitions for Timmy as he begins preschool.

OTHER Prayer Needs

  • Continue to pray for expedient processing of refugee applications.  May God open the doors for streamlining the process of helping refugees in need, including the family we are sponsoring from Sudan.  May God use the efforts of our letters to the MP in urging the more expedient processing of applications.
  • May God lead and provide for the many families who are here but waiting for their permanent residence papers and work permits so they are able to work and receive other supports, for those looking for work, learning English, and making adjustments/transitions while settling into life in Canada.

  • Lord, You have been so generous to us. Show us at ECC and in Canada how we can best join You in contributing to the needs of others displaced near and far.

  • Lord, give us one heart with Yours.  In Luke 10:25-37,  Jesus says: ”Love your neighbor” and tells of a man robbed, beaten and left for dead…The Good Samaritan reminds me of Jesus—he brings the man to an innkeeper saying: “Whatever more it costs, I will repay you when I return.”
