Cicero, the most famous and prolific letter writer of Roman antiquity, writes, “Though I have nothing to say to you, I write all the same, because I feel as though I were talking to you.” Although I have a FEW things to “say” I enjoy the idea or the thought of talking with you…so I’ll keep writing as I am able.
The Return
Once restrictions were lifted and we began having services in which all could attend, I assumed everyone would return. I was wrong. (We all know what they say about “assumptions.”) Currently, about half of you are joining us in person and the other half are tuning in online. There is also a small percentage of folks we haven’t seen in a while; we miss you. I’ve chatted with a handful of you who aren’t ready to return to the building just yet. I understand why and I want to encourage you to return at your own pace. Although my extroverted-ness wants to see you and shake your hand or offer a nice side hug, I would rather wait until you are ready and not rush anything.
Our tech team is hard at work developing creative ways to make our services a good experience for those online as well as those in the building. It’s not without its challenges. I appreciate your patience as we explore the best approaches.
BBQ
Mark your calendar for Sunday, September 5. Instead of our traditional service we plan to meet outdoors and enjoy a BBQ together. Our hope is also to have a time of sharing and singing (this part will be indoors). I know I’ve said this before, but these types of Sundays are my favourite. Of course, the food is always great, but I love the casual atmosphere and the chance to chat with so many people.
