Anvil Camp

Emmanuel is one of twelve member-churches that make up the Daybreak Point Bible Camp Society. The camp, operating on Anvil Island since 1939, is 96 acres. There are 9 week-long camps in the summer and three weekend camps in September. Volunteers predominantly run the camp and these volunteers love the campers and make this week a highlight week of the year. The facilities are also rented to schools, churches and some groups in the spring and fall.

In 2018 every camp was at capacity! 940 campers experienced the love of Jesus, heard & felt the Gospel shared and enjoyed a tremendous week.

The new hospital/workers’ cabin was put into use in 2018. We were on budget for it and did not incur any debt. God is good. We have some bigger expenses coming this year with the need to replace some waterfront structures (the docks and water slide), the gym roof, our log saw and, in a few years, the dining hall. To meet these needs, we are actively interviewing for the position of Director of Camp Development. Our sponsorship fund is well funded, but, our capital and general funds need support. If you have any time to help with building or repairs, let Fred Harwood know and he will connect you to our Operations group. There is a Work Week (starting April 15th) and some work party weekends.

We are very thankful for the many ECCers who pray and financially contribute to Daybreak. Camp is a collaborative effort and many Emmanuelites volunteered time at camp this past summer. With Brittani Hislop and Anna Hers helping to direct Camps 6 and 9 respectively, we have heavy involvements in these two camps especially. Brittani directs with Graeme Essex and Anna with Taryn Hagan (Leslie’s daughter-in-law).

April 27th will be the Celebration Banquet of our 80th year! Tables hold 10 people and Fred is looking for anyone interested in sponsoring a table for $250. If you would like to attend this fundraising banquet or if you have an item or service you’d like to donate to the silent auction, please let Fred know.  Summer Staff postings will be on the website for the positions of life-guard, boat driver, canteen operator and assistant caretaker.

We are very thankful to God for this camp on Anvil Island. It is the first mission field for so many and God continues to transform lives there.
